Glad Tidings of Great Joy: Christmas Pageant Signup continues this Sunday. Look for our Signup Sheet in Hudson Hall -- 16 Speaking parts, as well as a host of angels, shepherds, sheep and a star are needed. Rehearsals will be on 12/22 and 12/24 at 10am -- MANY Parents needed to help. Our Christmas Eve Pageant takes place at 5pm on 12/24. Be here as quick as you can say "St. Nick!"

Aid for the Philippines: As we're all aware, a typhoon of historic proportions hit the Philippines in the last week, ravaging the central islands of the country. Essential infrastructure has been damaged, and food, shelter, and sanitation are in short supply. If you would like to make a donation to Episcopal Relief and Development to aid with disaster response in the Philippines, you can put a check in the plate during this week's offering, made out to St. Thomas’ and in the memo section include "Philippines Relief" or go the Episcopal Relief and Development (http://www.episcopalrelief.org) and make a contribution. Any gifts made before Dec. 6th will be matched by a group of ERD donors.
Let our Pilgrims wrap your Christmas Gifts!! On Sunday, December 15th, after the 10am Service, our 2014 St. Thomas' Pilgrims will beautifully wrap your gifts to raise funds for their Pilgrimage.
Flowers for Christmas: If you would like to make a donation to the Christmas decorations and flowers please take an envelope from the bulletin board in the hallway and fill in the information. Place the envelope in Kathleen’s mailbox. Please make checks payable to St Thomas Episcopal Church, and put Flower Committee on the memo line.
On Sunday, December 8th, after we all have “shopped 'til you drop” at our ECW Treats & Treasures Sale -- join our Tweens in painting & finishing their gift to us of handmade Christmas ornaments. Pizza lunch included find us in the 3-5 classroom.
ECW Book Group – Christmas Dinner/Book Swap Mark your calendar for Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00. We will meet at Peking Imperial, 6827 Redmond Dr., McLean, (close to Chico’s) for our annual Christmas dinner and gift book swap. Even if you don’t usually come to Book Group, please consider attending – it is lots of fun. Bring a new, wrapped book (hardback or paperback) of general interest (no hobbies, politics, etc.), not costing more than $15-$20 for the swap. Time: After the 10:00am service, but 8:30am service attendees please feel free to come early to shop as we finish our set-up (just pardon us running around.)
Highlights: “Treats” - buy for yourself and/or for delivery to local First Responders.
“Treasures” - great Christmas presents for moms & dads, grandmas & grandpas, brothers & sisters, teachers & friends.
We welcome donations – of new or lightly used items for us to sell. You may drop off items starting November 3rd and ending December 1st. Please put donated items in the ECW closet in bags or boxes clearly marked “for ECW fundraiser”. Donations should be of items that could be gifts for moms/grandmas, dads/grandpas, brothers/sisters, teachers. Since it is our ECW’s “silver” anniversary, we would encourage you to donate unused wedding presents or other silver items. If the item is of high value, please contact Berta Smith or the church office to arrange safe keeping prior to the event.
For those who enjoy baking, we always appreciate your time, effort and enthusiasm in providing the home made baked goods for us to sell. All baked goods should be properly wrapped. Any items containing nuts should be marked accordingly. Please bring baked goods to Hudson Hall on your way into church on Sunday for set-up, but if you need to drop them off on Saturday they should be left on the kitchen counter clearly marked “for ECW fundraiser”. December 22nd, St. Thomas' Middle School and Senior High Youth are invited to gather with other Region 5 Youth for "Finding Jesus at the Mall," a scavenger hunt through a local shopping area. We'll meet at 6pm, go hunting in teams for signs of real Christmas, then reconnect for a quick dinner and discussion. Contact Mary Beth for more information.

Alternative House Dinners: St. Thomas’ is serving dinner at Alternative House on the forth Sunday of every month. If you would like to help, please sign up on the sheets in Hudson Hall. The meal is a simple supper, some ideas but not limited to are: hamburgers and hot dogs, enchiladas, spaghetti, pizza, chili, macaroni and cheese, or lasagna.
