Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)
Youth in grades 6 through 12 are invited to participate in the St. Thomas Episcopal Youth Community. EYC provides youth the opportunity to experience Christian fellowship and formation through peer interactions. Youth will experience a deepening of faith and commitment to Christ by engaging in EYC activities that center on fellowship, service work, and most importantly FUN!! Activities that EYC does include a rafting trip, a summer mission trip, volunteering at the Samaritan Ministry Christmas Party, volunteering at a hypothermia shelter, movie nights, laser tag, lock-ins, and a ski trip. If you are a youth interested in joining us, please feel free to contact Fr. Stephen, our Rector, for more details. His email address is stthom1rector@cox.net.

Some Past Events
White Water Rafting Trip - On Friday, September 26th, 2008, eight youth and three adults headed out to West Virignia to spend the weekend White Water Rafting down the New River. Although it rained all of Friday and into Saturday morning, the weather cleared up once on the water. We spent over four hours paddling through class II, III, and IV rapids. We got some great exercise and enjoyed the opportunity to build fellowship and work on teamwork. When we were not on the river we played group/teambuilding games, visited the Dairy Queen, worshipped, and slept!
Pumpkin Unloading - The EYC helped to unload pumpkins for the parish fundraiser. Although it was tough work, our kids did a great job volunteering!
Mini Golfing - The middle-schoolers went mini golfing at Woody's Perils of the Lost Jungle mini golf course after church. The weather was beautiful and the youth who went had a blast running around the course and dodging all the perils that Woody's jungle throws at you!
Night Corn Maize - The EYC went through a corn Maize at night. It was a lot of fun and a little muddy!
Walk to End Homelessness - Youth and adults from St. Thomas walked in the annual Fannie Mae Walk to End Homelessness. St. Thomas raised a significant amount of money from the walk with all proceeds supporting Samaritan Ministry. The walk started and ended on the Mall in D.C. And took a route around the title basin. We had a great time and had excellent opportunities for fellowship!
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper - Lots of youth showed up to help out with St. Thomas' Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. Lots of pancakes we eaten and everyone had a good time. St. Thomas' also included a Talent Show as part of the Shrove Tuesday Festivities.
St. Thomas Youth Ski Trip - Youth and their parents headed to the slopes during the winter. St. Thomas' took a day trip to Whitetail Ski Resort in Pennsylvania with youth from St. Francis Episcopal Church in Great Falls. The weather was decent and the slopes were fast. Youth had a good time skiing and snowboarding!
