THIS WEEK @ ST. THOMAS

The Rev. Dr Stephen Edmondson
Rector

Stephen Edmondson came to St. Thomas in July of 2007 to serve as the parish's seventh rector. Stephen has been a priest for 19 years, and he has served in avariety of ministries. Most recently, he was an associate professor of Church History at the Virginia Theological Seminary, but hearing the call to return to his first love, parish ministry, Stephen was happy to accept the call to St. Thomas. Stephen has an A.B. from Stanford University and an M.Div. and Ph.D. (Theology) from Yale. He has published one book, Calvin's Christology, and is currently working on a monograph exploring the theology of inviting all to sit with Jesus at the Eucharistic Table. At St. Thomas, Stephen has particularly enjoyed his opportunities to work with the vestry on a long-term vision for St. Thomas, to visit people in their homes, and to nurture the spiritual life of the congregation through classes and groups devoted to Adult Christian Formation.

Stephen's wife, Cynthia Hess, is a study director with the Institute for Women's Policy Research. Cyndi and Stephen have two sons, Andrew and Christopher. They are convinced that if they could harness the energy of both boys, they could supply the electrical needs of McLean year round.
