THIS WEEK @ ST. THOMAS

Adult Formation Programs

At St. Thomas, we know that we can best care for our families, our friends, and for our world by first tending to God's work in our own lives. As we learn to pray more deeply, to understand God's world more clearly, and to discern the movement and work of God around us more surely, we can live more fully into Jesus' offer to us of a Gospel way of life. We offer both on-going and seasonal classes and groups to support us in this formation. Any and all are invited to participate. Please call the Church Office (703-442-0330) if you have any questions.

Created to Play: A Spirituality for Adults and Children

Tuesday Evenings

7:30 – 9:00 PM

Oct. 2, 9, 23, 30, Nov. 6

We play games, play sports, and play music. We write plays, act in plays, and go to plays. We are playful, play with our children, and play with our pets. Play has a regular part of our daily lives since the time we were children, and it is also essential to our spiritual well-being. Play is a, if not the, fundamental way that we make sense of our world. Through pray we discern and practice finding meaning. Join us for five Tuesday evenings this fall and explore with us not only a theological understanding of play, but also various practical ways that play can enliven and enrich our lives. The class will be lead by Fr. Stephen.

On-Going Formation Opportunities:

Thursday Morning Bible Study
11:00 am, the first and third Thursdays of each month
(see calendar for schedule)

Every other Thursday we gather to discuss a portion of the Bible. We are presently reading through the Genesis. The goal of the group is to learn to hear each passage more clearly by having a better sense of how it fits into the Gospel as a whole. In learning to hear the Bible more clearly, we also hope to find how it might speak to our lives. Although this is an on-going group, you are invited to come at any time. We are happy to help you jump into the story. Led by Stephen Edmondson
